Covid 19
In 2020, we delivered critical relief work in West Bengal to communities affected by the Covid-19 pandemic in Kolkata. Through our relief efforts, we distributed sanitization kits and packets of dry food to five neighborhoods in the city, helping to address urgent needs and alleviate some of the most pressing challenges faced by vulnerable populations.
Cyclone Amphan
Following the devastating impact of Cyclone Amphan in 2020, Spriha Society stepped up to provide critical aid and support to those affected by the disaster in the Sundarbans region. Through our relief efforts, we distributed essential supplies, including dry food packages, sanitary products, and water, to help address the urgent needs of those affected by the cyclone.
Cyclone Yaas
Spriha Society launched a Safe Sanitation Campaign in response to the devastating impact of Cyclone Yaas in 2021, to provide critical support to communities in the Sundarbans region. Our relief efforts included the distribution of clean drinking water and sanitary napkins, which assisted in meeting immediate needs and promoting the health and well-being of those affected by the cyclone.
Our Journey with the Trans-community in Kolkata and Relief Work
We conducted a comprehensive survey to assess the economic and health conditions of the community, with a special focus on the impact of the pandemic. Our findings helped us identify the areas where we can make the biggest difference.

Our non-profit organized a community-building program that included a plantation drive. We encouraged all members of society to join us in adopting a sustainable lifestyle. We also distributed food packets and sanitization kits to those in need.

On Mahalaya, we conducted a community engagement program that included a film screening. This was a great opportunity for us to connect with the community and share our vision for a better future.

In 2021, we conducted a survey of small businesses in Kolkata to identify opportunities for the employment of trans people. Thanks to our efforts, we were able to facilitate the employment of two trans people and conducted gender-sensitization programs in the workplace.
