LTAP (Let's Talk About Periods)
LTAP (Let's Talk About Periods) The LTAP project, initiated in March 2022, has made significant strides in covering 34 government schools in and around Kolkata. This strategic selection ensures that the benefits of the project extend to diverse communities, reaching 5200+ young menstruators, 400 young mothers, and 200 teaching staff. The project has achieved a significant increase in knowledge and awareness about menstrual hygiene among students. Through engaging and informative sessions, we have successfully dismantled myths and stigmas, equipping young menstruators with the knowledge and tools to manage their health confidently. One of our primary goals was to reduce absenteeism and dropout rates among female students. Early indicators suggest a positive impact, with schools reporting a decrease in absenteeism, allowing female students to actively participate in their education without disruptions caused by menstrual health issues. The project has facilitated improved access to menstrual products for young menstruators in the covered schools by distributing menstrual products, and donating sanitary napkin dispensers to 10 schools. This addresses a crucial aspect of period poverty, ensuring that menstruators have the necessary resources to manage their menstrual health with dignity.
